Great American Veggie Burger

The cheeseburger, an American classic that's perfect for summertime.

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg Daiya Cheddar Style Slices
  • 2 cans organic red kidney beans, rinsed
  • 1/2 cup Flour, (chickpea, all purpose, rice or other)
  • 3/4 cup crushed raw walnuts
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp seasoned salt
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 cup mushrooms, diced
  • 1 cup onion, diced
  • 4 tbsp ground flax
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 2 1/2 cups quinoa, cooked
  • 1/2 tbsp black pepper
  • 2 packages Daiya Pepperjack Style Shreds
  • 1 package hamburger or slider buns
  • 1 oil, for frying

Instructions

Cook quinoa according to package directions, let stand to cool.

Dice mushrooms and onions into small pieces. In the meantime, hear an oiled frying pan. Sautee the mushrooms, onion, garlic, salt & pepper in the pan.

In a food processor, puree the beans, flour, walnuts, seasonings and flax.

Once the quinoa has cooled, stir in the quinoa and Daiya Pepperjack Shreds.

Heat a skillet or frying pan with oil.

Form the mixture into patties and add to the pan. Fry the bean patties until they are golden brown on each side and heated through. Add a slice of Daiya Cheddar Style Slices and heat until melted. Serve the patty on a hamburger or slider bun with your choice of toppings and condiments.
